E S Rajesh Meets Chief Secretary & DC South Andaman, Highlights Important Issues of Great Nicobar

Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay today met the Chief Secretary to take up important issues of Great Nicobar Island. The Chief Secretary asked Mr. Rajesh to meet Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and explain the issues to him for immediate redressal.

Mr. E S Rajesh then met DC South Andaman and highlighted various issues of Great Nicobar which needs immediate redressal.

Mr. Rajesh informed about the following problems being faced by the residents of Great Nicobar:

1. Problems faced by the residents of Laxmi Nagar Panchayat due to faulty HT Electrical Cable (Aerial Bunched Cable).

2. The bad condition of North-South Road because of which residents of Laxmi Nagar are facing a lot of problems.

3. The problems being faced by the residents due to stopping of free tickets for referred patients in Helicopters for travel to Port Blair.

4. Problems being faced by residents/patients of Great Nicobar due to non-availability of transit accommodation at Port Blair. 

5. Problems being faced by locals and tourists in getting passes for visiting Indira Point. 

6. Non-Availability of 4G mobile network services at Govind Nagar. (Demand for Airtel BTS Installation)

7. Limited production in the Fisheries Ice Plant at Campbell Bay.

8. Problems being faced by many people due to the non-revision of the Islander Card List. (Demand for subsidised travel on Residential Certificates issued by competent authority)

9. Problems being faced by the residents due to expensive cargo freight in private cargo vessels. (Demanded deployment of DSS Cargo vessel for Nicobar District with containers.)

10. Problems being faced by the residents due to the RT-PCR mandate for travel from Port Blair to Campbell Bay.

Mr. Rajesh also demanded the deployment of electric buses at Campbell Bay for the convenience of the residents. 

He also demanded the construction of a multipurpose sports hall at Campbell Bay for the benefit of the youth.

DC South Andaman heard all the issues and demands raised by Mr. E S Rajesh and assured him that all problems highlighted by him will be solved.

The DC also made a few calls immediately to resolve some of the problems. He spoke to DC Nicobar and assured that passes for Indira Point will be issued to tourists visiting Campbell Bay. He also assured that transit accommodation will soon be made available to the patients at Port Blair for their convenience.
