The students enrolled at the Industrial Training Institute, Car Nicobar are in a fix as Instructors for four different trades i.e Mason, Welder, Electrician and Stenographer & Secretarial Assistant have not been made available for months.

At present, the Institute is operating only with instructors for Plumber and Computer Operator & Programming Assistant trades.

Nicobar Time spoke to the Principal, ITI Port Blair (also Principal-In-Charge of ITI Car Nicobar) who informed us that some approvals are pending with the officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and once those approvals are granted the Instructors will be made available. The Principal also informed that the classes are being conducted at ITI Car Nicobar regularly and also students are being taken to different departments for practical exposure.

Nicobar Times spoke to a student of ITI Car Nicobar and he contradicted the claims of the Principal. He informed that the students are unprepared for the exams starting next month due to the non-availability of Instructors.

The student further explained that no one wants to raise their voices now, as previously students were targeted by the staff for speaking up against the mismanagement at the institute.

Nicobar Times also highlighted the issue on the 26th of May 2022 but no action has been taken by the authorities to ensure the immediate availability of the instructors.

The parents of the students are concerned for the future of their wards and have demanded immediate posting of instructors.
