Ajoy Bairagi Meets Chief Secretary to Discuss Various Issues of the Islands

Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A & N Islands on Tuesday met Mr. Keshav Chandra, Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and discussed various issues of the Islands. Mr. Bairagi also submitted a detailed representation to the Chief Secretary.

Mr. Bairagi informed the Chief Secretary about the problems in the education sector like the non-availability of Principals/Vice-Principals in various schools, the non-availability of adequate teachers in many schools as 1000 posts of various categories of teachers are lying vacant. He also demanded repair and renovation of school buildings wherever necessary.

Mr. Bairagi also requested the Chief Secretary to streamline the LPG supply to remote islands such as Hut Bay, Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep. He informed the Chief Secretary that the residents are facing a lot of problems due to an inadequate supply of LPG cylinders. He also informed that the commercial establishments are also affected due to the scarce supply of commercial LPG Cylinders. 

Mr. Bairagi raised the demand for revamping the Health infrastructure before the Chief Secretary. He explained to the Chief Secretary that the ANISHI Scheme was very successful, but it has become useless after its merger with the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. He requested the Chief Secretary to revive the old scheme. Mr. Bairagi also demanded filling up vacant posts of all doctors, and paramedical staff. He also demanded providing adequate medical equipment to all medical establishments.

Mr. Ajoy Bairagi also informed the Chief Secretary of the pathetic state of roads in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He informed that along with ATR the rural roads connecting ATR are also in a pathetic state as no repair and maintenance has been carried out for a few years.
