The official and verified Twitter handle of Andaman Tourism (@TourismDeptANI) has been hacked. The hacking took place sometime late in the evening hours on 14th September 2022. The hacker gained access to the Twitter handle and changed the display name to vitalik.eth.
Several spam tweets and tweet replies were sent out from the Twitter handle regarding cryptocurrency.
The spam tweets mostly said “To celebrate the Merge, Ethereum Foundation giving away 50,000 ETH!” and a spam Blogspot link was also included in the tweets.
According to sources, the authorities of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration were able to change the Display Name of the Twitter handle back to Andaman Tourism, but they are unable to delete the tweets or take full control of the Twitter account.
Sources have also informed that the Cyber Cell of Andaman and Nicobar Police has also been informed of the hack.
The Twitter account of Andaman Tourism has 2159 followers and the last legitimate tweet from the account was sent out on 13th September 2022.
