Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay has written a letter to the Secretary (RD, PRIs & ULBs) highlighting the problems being faced by the shortage of Junior Engineers at Campbell Bay. At present only one Junior Engineer is posted at Campbell Bay for all three Gram Panchayats, two Zilla Parishad Constituencies and one Panchayat Samiti.
Mr. Rajesh also highlighted that the elected representatives are also facing problems as the department has not posted an Assistant Engineer at Campbell Bay.
Mr. Rajesh in his letter has mentioned that the works of all three Gram Panchayats are getting hampered due to shortage of Junior Engineers and non-posting of an Assistant Engineer.
He also informed the Secretary that one Junior Engineer who has been posted by the department at Campbell Bay has not joined duty even after a lapse of six months.
In his letter, Mr. Rajesh mentioned that the issue has already been brought to the attention of the Director (RD, PRIs) by all the Pradhans of Campbell Bay in May 2022. He further added that the Zilla Parishad Member, Govind Nagar and Pradhan, Govind Nagar also met the Director (RD, PRIs) and requested him to look into the issue.
Mr. Rajesh also mentioned that the shortage of Engineers may also cause impediments in ensuring the quality of ongoing construction works. He also added that the Gram Panchayats would not be able to furnish Utilisation Certificates under various sectors, due to under-utilisation of funds as adequate engineering staff is not available.
Mr. Rajesh has requested immediate posting of one JE for each panchayat, one JE for Zilla Parishad, one JE for Panchayat Samiti and one AE for all three tiers of the Panchayati Raj System.
