The residents of Car Nicobar are facing a lot of problems due to the non-availability of petrol and diesel. Petrol was last sold to the general public at Car Nicobar on 22nd of September 2022. In addition to petrol and diesel, LPG cylinders have not been distributed in the Island for more than a month.
Due to the crisis of LPG cylinders, some residents were using diesel as cooking fuel but now even diesel is not available at the fuel station.
The local population as well as Govt. Servants are facing problems in commuting due to the crisis of petrol in the Island.
Sources informed that a ship is likely to sail from Port Blair today for Car Nicobar and will carry petrol, diesel as well as LPG for the Island.
The residents faced similar crises of petrol and diesel earlier in the first week of September 2022.
Availability of fuel like petrol, diesel and LPG should be ensured at all times in remote Islands for the convenience of the general public.
