The 79th anniversary of the hoisting of the National Tri-colour for the first time on Indian Soil by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was celebrated on 30th December 2022. It was on December 30 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hoisted the National Tri-Colour for the first time at Port Blair, declaring the Islands, the first Indian Territory freed from British rule.
To mark the Day, a State Level function was organized by the Department of Art and Culture at Flag Point on 30th December 2022, in which the Hon’ble Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati P. Pawar and Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency hoisted the National Flag amidst patriotic fervour. The Flag hoisting function was attended among others by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Mr. Nikhil Kumar, Adhyaksha, ZPSA, Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Chairperson PBMC, Mrs. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar, Senior Officers of A&N Administration, prominent citizens, tourists and the general public.
