A Workshop-cum-Seminar was organised for the Andamanese Community Members with the theme ‘Educate, Enhance & Empower’ on 4th January by Andaman Admin Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) & Directorate of Tribal Welfare in association with the Departments of Industries, Education, Fisheries, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services in the conference hall of Anthropological Survey of India (AnSI), Port Blair. The focus was to orient Andamanese Community Members towards skill building.
During the workshop, representatives of the concerned Departments elucidated on various skill-building & training programmes related to self-employment and motivated participants to upgrade their skills by availing various schemes of the Govt. of India.
The members of the Andamanese community appreciated the program and showed interest in starting self-employment ventures by availing benefits of the schemes and resources provided by the Govt. of India. The representatives requested the members of the Andamanese tribe to visit their Departments in case of any assistance and also shared their contact information for facilitation and better approach.
After the successful interactive session, representatives of the Department of Industries arranged a tour for the Andamanese Community members to Sagarika Emporium. They were also taken to the workshop for demonstrating the mechanisms used for the production and marketing of various products.
The programme was organised on the direction of the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration.
