Hindu Rashtra Shakti has called for a protest in Port Blair on 11th of January 2023, against the deteriorating health services in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The organisation has asked everyone to join the protest at 2:00 Pm in front of Cellular Jail.

The residents of the Islands have been complaining about the deteriorating health services for a long time. Every other day there are serious complaints of medical negligence at G.B Pant Hospital.

The call for protest by HRS was triggered by the death of a 20-Year-Old Accident Victim. The girl reportedly met an accident on the 1st of January 2023 and was first taken to Pillar Hospital. She was referred from Pillar Hospital to G.B Pant Hospital as Pillar Hospital was not equipped to handle her case.

Team HRS was following up on the case from the 3rd of January 2023, and the team members were constantly requesting the doctors to refer her to mainland, if the required treatment cannot be successfully imparted at Port Blair.

The doctors of G.B Pant reportedly kept delaying the referral giving different reasons and excuses. Doctors were also called from the mainland to check up on the girl and the visiting doctors informed that it is risky but the girl can be transported by air to mainland.

The Air Ambulance to transport the patient to mainland was due to land at Port Blair in the afternoon on 08th January 2023, but the girl passed away the same morning.

Mr. Angshuman Roy, State President, Yuva Morcha, HRS, A & N islands while speaking to Nicobar Times said ‘The staff of the health department from the Technicians to Specialist Doctors behave as if the Islanders are beggars and they are rendering free services. It’s high time that we stand up for the right thing and save ourselves from the clutches of the Hazardous Behaviour by the Health Department Staff.’
