Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Visits Anthropological Museum, Cellular Jail and Holds Meeting with Senior Officers of Administartion

Mr. Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, GoI arrived at Port Blair on 27th of April 2023, on a 4 days visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On arrival, Hon’ble Union Minister was received by the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS and other Senior Officers of Andaman & Nicobar Administration at the Airport. The Chief Secretary presented flower bouquets and welcomed the Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs visited Zonal Anthropological Museum of Anthropological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair and appreciated the contribution of Anthropological Survey of India towards the nation particularly the Zonal Anthropological Museum for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people of these Islands. He also motivated the scientific staff of the Regional Centre for an enhancement of the museum exhibition and various activities.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs also held a meeting with the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS & Senior Officer of A & N Administration in the conference hall of Secretariat. Later in the evening, the Hon’ble Union Minister visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail and also witnessed the Light & Sound Show. 

Today (April 28), the Hon’ble Union Minister will visit Dugong Creek in Little Andaman and interact with Onge PVTG. The Minister will also proceed to Campbell Bay and interact with the representatives of the Shompen PVTG.
