Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency called on Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Mr. Raj Kumar Singh in New Delhi recently. During the meeting, implementation of privatisation of the Power sector in A & N Islands was discussed. Hon’ble Lt. Governor also briefed about the steps being taken by Andaman & Nicobar Administration for Greening of Islands/ setting up of 50 MW LNG Plant, Installation of Battery Energy Storage System and various measures for streamlining Power sector of the Islands.
Hon’ble Lt Governor, A & N Islands also called on Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, GoI, Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi recently. During the meeting, early operationalisation of two New Greenfield Airports, new Terminal Building at Veer Savarkar International Airport, A & N Islands, early commencement of Sea-plane services at Long Island, Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep, Port Blair and modernisation of Helicopter fleet with large capacity machines were discussed. Hon’ble Lt Governor also recommended for starting International flight services and introduction of small, fixed wing flights with implementation of UDAN scheme.
