South Andaman District Police Seize 416 Kilograms of Venison (Deer Meat) in Remarkable Operation

In a remarkable operation conducted by the South Andaman District Police, a team from the Ograbraj Police Station achieved one of their largest seizures to date, confiscating a staggering 416 kilograms of venison (deer meat). The successful mission was carried out under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Devanand Pathak, Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Ograbraj, along with a dedicated team of officers.

Acting on credible intelligence received on June 28, 2023, a raiding team was swiftly assembled to conduct surveillance in the Chouldari area. During their operation, they identified a suspicious Omni vehicle traveling from Lal Pahar towards Chouldari with the registration number AN01/E-6106. The team successfully tracked and intercepted the vehicle, subsequently discovering a total of 416 kilograms of venison upon inspection.

Despite the suspects’ attempts to flee, the determined police team apprehended them along with the vehicle, which contained nine plastic bags filled with the illicit meat. The three suspects were identified as Shiv Ram, Raj Singh, and Anod Dung Dung, and they were promptly detained. Shiv Ram, 24 years old, is a private driver residing in Nimbu Bageecha, Chouldari. Raj Singh, 23 years old, is a private worker residing in Port Mout, while Anod Dung Dung, 37 years old, is a mason mistry residing in Port Mout.

The seized venison, along with the Omni vehicle, was confiscated on the spot, and the relevant information was relayed to the appropriate Forest officials. All the seized articles, as well as the detained individuals, were handed over to the concerned Forest officials for further necessary action within their jurisdiction.
