A daring operation by an anti-poaching team resulted in the successful apprehension of five foreign poachers in the mangroves and creek area of Loha Tikrey, Khari Nallah. The team, consisting of ASI B.S Halder, HC V. Saji, and PCs Subrata Biswas & Shoaib Ali, displayed exemplary bravery and quick thinking during the operation.

The incident unfolded on the morning of August 12 when the anti-poaching team was dispatched to investigate the suspected presence of foreign poachers in the area. ASI B.S Halder was the first to spot movement, prompting the team to cautiously approach the scene. The poachers, upon realizing the presence of law enforcement, attempted to flee into the dense jungle. However, the situation took a turn when the anti-poaching team fired warning shots, compelling three of the poachers to surrender immediately.

Undeterred, the team continued their search for other potential culprits. Hours later, their persistence paid off as they once again detected movement from the poachers. Swiftly springing into action, the team surrounded and captured two more suspects, effectively bringing the total number of apprehended poachers to five.

All five captured poachers were subsequently transported to PS Kalighat and later handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. The entire operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA, whose leadership ensured the seamless execution of the mission.

The courage and resourcefulness demonstrated by the anti-poaching team have not gone unnoticed. Their actions have earned them widespread commendation, and they are slated to receive well-deserved recognition for their exceptional efforts in curbing illegal poaching.

In light of these developments, authorities urge both the general public and fishermen to be vigilant and report any credible information regarding the sighting of foreign boats or individuals. They are encouraged to contact their nearest Police Station or use the phone numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Informants can rest assured that their identities will be kept confidential, and they will be appropriately rewarded for their courageous contributions to maintaining the region’s security.

As the investigation into the apprehended poachers progresses, the successful operation stands as a testament to the dedication and unwavering commitment of law enforcement to protect and preserve the region’s natural resources.
