The Model Career Centre (Employment Exchange), Directorate of Employment & Training, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, conducted a Career Guidance and Motivational Talk program on August 26, 2023, at Balika Niketan, Attampahad. The event aimed to inspire and guide the 33 children currently residing in the Care & Protection Institution under the Social Welfare Department.
The objective of this career guidance program was to motivate the children, orient them about various career opportunities aligned with their interests, and equip them with the tools to succeed in life despite any obstacles they may face.
Mr. Vikram Singh, Employment Officer, led the session by encouraging the students to openly express their thoughts and engage in stress-relieving, anger-management, and fear-conquering activities. The officers from the Model Career Centre, including Ms. Vimla Venkateshwar, Vocational Guidance Officer, and Ms. K. Binu, Assistant Employment Officer, enlightened the students about making informed career choices. They underscored the significance of education and effective career planning through a compelling PowerPoint presentation, sharing inspiring success stories of individuals who once resided in Care & Protection Institutions and are now thriving in their careers.
Ms. R. R. Sneha Nair, Clinical Psychologist, and Ms. Shabnam Begum, Counsellor, both resource persons from the health sector, emphasised the importance of mental and physical well-being among the children. They also conducted an awareness session on menstrual hygiene practices, a vital topic for adolescent girls.
To ensure an engaging and interactive experience, games were organised for the children, adding a fun element to the day’s proceedings.
