Corbyn’s Cove to Host Exciting Beach Volleyball Tournament in Celebration of World Tourism Day 2023

The world is gearing up to celebrate ‘World Tourism Day’ on September 27, 2023, a globally recognised event dedicated to highlighting the importance of tourism. This year’s theme, as announced by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), is ‘Tourism and Green Investments,’ emphasising sustainable tourism practices.

In commemoration of this significant day, the Tourism Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has planned an array of activities to promote awareness and engagement. Among the festivities, one of the standout events is the ‘WTD Beach Volleyball Knockout Tournament-2023,’ scheduled to take place at Corbyn’s Cove beach from September 22nd to 24th, 2023.

The celebration will feature a series of events and activities related to the theme, running from 9:30 am to 8 pm. These events have been organised in collaboration with various tourism stakeholders across the islands.

For those interested in participating, the tournament welcomes teams of two players each. To enrol, interested participants can contact the Executive staff of the Directorate of Tourism during office hours from 8:30 am to 5 pm on or before September 20, 2023. The Beach Volleyball Knockout Tournament promises exciting competition, and the winners will receive not only recognition but also cash prizes. The champions of the tournament will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000, along with trophies.

The honour of the winners will take place on September 27, 2023, coinciding with World Tourism Day-2023. This celebration not only fosters sportsmanship but also underscores the role of sustainable tourism practices in preserving the natural beauty and resources of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
