In a bid to encourage more residents to update their documents in Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had allowed free online updates through the My Aadhaar Portal until September 14, 2023. The move received a positive response from the residents, prompting the UIDAI to extend the free document update facility for an additional three months, from September 15, 2023, to December 14, 2023.
Residents can take advantage of this extended period to update their Aadhaar card information, including Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents. This is especially important for individuals whose Aadhaar cards were issued ten or more years ago and have not been updated. The aim is to improve the ease of living, enhance service delivery, and boost the authentication success rate for all Aadhaar holders.
Residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands can access this service by visiting the official My Aadhaar Portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ and using their Aadhaar Number. The extension of this free service comes as a welcome initiative, making it easier for individuals to keep their Aadhaar information up-to-date.
For those facing any difficulties during the online update process, the UIDAI recommends visiting the nearest Aadhaar Centre. At these centres, residents can update their documents by paying a nominal fee of Rs. 50. This additional option ensures that every Aadhaar card holder has a convenient and cost-effective way to keep their information current.
