Andaman Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM), part of the Directorate of Rural Development, is all set to illuminate Marina Park with the spirit of community-driven empowerment and sustainable development. From November 3rd to November 5th, 2023, the Deepawali Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela will be a shining example of grassroots initiatives that are transforming lives and fostering entrepreneurship.
The Deepawali SHG Mela will light up Marina Park daily from 4 pm to 9 pm. This event is a testament to the strength of Self-Help Groups, which empower individuals, promote entrepreneurship, and drive sustainable development among their members. It provides a platform for SHG members to display and sell their handcrafted products, offering them a source of income and financial independence.
This year’s Mela will focus on a diverse range of traditional foods, savoury treats, sweets, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, handicrafts, home decor items, and more.
The general public is warmly invited to visit and savour the homely flavours and vibrant colours of these handmade products, showing their support for the SHGs. By attending the Deepawali SHG Mela, visitors will not only enjoy a delightful shopping experience but also contribute to the sustainable development of rural communities.
ANIRLM’s Deepawali SHG Mela is an opportunity to celebrate the vibrant traditions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands while fostering economic growth and community development. Join the festivities at Marina Park and be a part of this community-driven initiative from November 3rd to 5th, 2023.
