In a historic first, the remote Great Nicobar Island played host to the inaugural ‘Prashasan Aapke Dwar’ event on November 7, 2023. This groundbreaking initiative brought together government officials and the local population, allowing them to directly voice their concerns and issues to the authorities.
The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, who was accompanied by Mr. Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner of Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar, Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay, the Up-Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay, among other dignitaries. Pradhans of GP Govind Nagar and GP Campbell Bay, along with officials from various line departments, also attended the event held at the Community Hall in Campbell Bay.
A notable aspect of the ‘Prashasan Aapke Dwar’ event was the opportunity it offered to the gathering of General Public and PRI (Panchayati Raj Institutions) Members from GP Govind Nagar and GP Campbell Bay. They had the chance to present their grievances, concerns, and revenue-related issues directly to Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Kumari.
During the event, Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Jyoti Kumari engaged with the general public, addressing their queries, issues, and grievances. Officials from various line departments were also on hand to respond to the concerns raised by the attendees.
Notably, Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Kumari took diligent notes of the issues raised and assured the public that action would be taken to address their grievances. The ‘Prashasan Aapke Dwar’ event proved to be an effective platform for immediate problem-solving and fostering direct communication between the administration and the local community.
Furthermore, the event also saw several beneficiaries of different government schemes, including the Kisan Credit Card, Amrit Sarovar Subsidy, and Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, receiving their sanction letters. Additionally, certificates were distributed to beneficiaries of a one-day course conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.
One of the notable highlights of the event was the handover of a two-wheeler and an icebox procured under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to a beneficiary.
The ‘Prashasan Aapke Dwar’ event left a positive impact on the residents of Great Nicobar Island, allowing them to directly interact with the Deputy Commissioner, present their grievances, and witness immediate resolutions to their concerns. The initiative’s success promises a more responsive and efficient administration, strengthening the bond between the government and its constituents.
