In a significant move aimed at promoting financial stability in rural India, the Government of India has initiated a transformative program called the Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA). This ambitious scheme is designed to empower citizens living in rural areas by enabling them to leverage their property as a valuable financial asset for securing loans and other financial benefits.

Under the SVAMITVA scheme, eligible individuals have been issued Property Cards, which are being actively promoted by the Administration and Revenue Department as a streamlined and digital means to apply for loans and access various financial benefits offered by the Government of India.

The Property Cards, an integral part of the SVAMITVA initiative, can be conveniently accessed online at http://db.and.nic.in/propertycard. This user-friendly online portal has made the process of availing loans and financial benefits more accessible and efficient for rural citizens, aligning with the government’s efforts to digitise essential services.

In a further endeavour to enhance the popularity and utilisation of Property Cards, the Revenue Department has recently organised a crucial meeting with the Lead Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and other scheduled banks. During this meeting, banks were strongly encouraged to incorporate Property Cards into their documentary requirements for various public sector schemes. By doing so, the government aims to foster increased acceptance and usage of Property Cards among the citizens of rural India.

The SVAMITVA scheme, with its emphasis on empowering rural individuals through property documentation, has the potential to revolutionise the financial landscape in rural areas, thereby contributing to economic growth and development across the country. As the government continues to drive forward its digital initiatives, Property Cards are expected to play a pivotal role in granting rural citizens access to financial resources and opportunities previously out of reach.
