In a bid to enhance pedestrian infrastructure, Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, marked a pivotal moment by laying the foundation stone for the Construction of CC Footpath with both side drain at Birsa Nagar, Attam Pahad, located in Ward Number 18, Port Blair.
This significant development, aimed at constructing a concrete footpath spanning 43 meters in length and 3 meters in width, falls under the purview of MPLADS funds. The decision to allocate resources for this project was prompted by the persistent request and advocacy put forth by the residents of the area.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Mr. Tej Bahadur, Chief Engineer of APWD (Andaman Public Works Department), along with Mr. V Vetrivelu, Councillor of Ward Number 19. Additionally, officials from APWD, alongside local residents, graced the occasion, signifying the collective enthusiasm and support for the commencement of this infrastructure endeavour.
Speaking at the ceremony, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasised the significance of bolstering community infrastructure, ensuring safer and more accessible pathways for pedestrians. He highlighted the collaborative effort between the community and government bodies in fulfilling the area’s developmental needs.
The construction of this CC footpath, coupled with a drainage system on both sides, is poised to significantly contribute to the convenience and safety of pedestrians in Birsa Nagar, Attam Pahad. Its completion is anticipated to mitigate longstanding concerns related to pedestrian movement and further fortify the local infrastructure network.
