Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav: A 75-Day Celebration of India’s Linguistic Richness at Dr. S.R. DIET

Dr. S.R. DIET, Garacharma, marked 75 days of vibrant festivities during the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, embracing the cultural tapestry of India with fervour and zeal. This jubilant celebration encompassed an array of activities aimed at fostering awareness and appreciation of India’s linguistic diversity.

Throughout the 75-day extravaganza, the air was filled with the essence of tradition and heritage as various events unfolded. From enthralling traditional and folk dances representing different states of India to captivating storytelling sessions, engaging role plays, and soul-stirring community singing, each program showcased the magnificence of India’s varied linguistic heritage. Moreover, the event featured delightful food stalls, displays of multilingual books, and vibrant costumes that further amplified the essence of multilingualism.

The grand finale of this celebration, the valedictory function, took place on December 11, 2023, in a poignant tribute to the revered noble laureate, C. Subramania Bharathi. The ceremony commenced with the dignified garlanding of Bharathi’s portrait by Ms. Sunita Chakraborty, Principal of DIET. In her address, Ms. Chakraborty illuminated Bharathi’s profound contributions to literature, the freedom struggle, and various social reforms, underscoring his indelible mark on Indian society.

The event continued to dazzle with enchanting cultural performances presented by the talented trainees of DIET. Ayush Dubey, a second-year trainee, delivered an impassioned speech themed ‘Bhasha Sangam – Celebrating the Linguistic Diversity of India,’ echoing the sentiment of unity in diversity.

The Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav stood not just as a celebration but as a testament to India’s cultural mosaic, emphasizing the importance of preserving and cherishing the country’s linguistic heritage. This remarkable 75-day extravaganza left an indelible imprint, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of languages that form the heart and soul of India.
