In a move geared towards improving sanitation and promoting health, Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has allocated a substantial sum of Rs. 90 lakhs for the construction of community toilet facilities in 15 villages across Car Nicobar Island.

The sanctioned funds, sourced from the MPLADs (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme), aim to establish two community toilet blocks each for both males and females in these villages. This initiative comes as a response to the pressing need for improved sanitation infrastructure in the region, particularly voiced by the Tribal Community of Car Nicobar.

The identified villages set to benefit from this development initiative include Mus village, Small Lapathi, Tapoiming village, Big Lapathy village, Chuckchucha village, Tamaloo village, Malacca village, Kakana village, Kimius village, Teetop village, Perka village, Sawai village, Kinyuka village, Kinmai village, and Arong village.

Highlighting the urgency and necessity of this project, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasised the absence of community toilet facilities in Car Nicobar Island, making this initiative a pivotal step towards fulfilling the demands of the local community and improving overall hygiene standards.
