On January 2nd, 2024, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, the Director General of Police for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, undertook a significant visit to the India Reserve Battalion (HQ) in Port Mout. The purpose of the visit was multifaceted, encompassing an assessment of operational capabilities, training provisions, and the overall functioning of the unit. A pivotal moment during the visit was the inauguration of an “Open Air Gymnasium,” named “Feddy’s Fit Zone”.
Accompanied by DIGs, SPs, and other senior officers of the A&N Police, Mr. Srivastva received a striking Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the IRBn campus. The highlight of the visit was the inauguration and dedication of “Feddy’s Fit Zone,” an open-air gym facility designed to promote physical well-being among the IRBn/Police personnel and their families.
The symbolic naming of “Feddy’s Fit Zone” was a tribute to the late Constable/021283 Fredrick, affectionately known as Feddy, a respected and dedicated member of the India Reserve Battalion. Constable Fredrick’s untimely passing due to a cardiac arrest on November 28th, 2023, prompted the unit to commemorate his exceptional service, unwavering commitment, and thirst for knowledge through this fitness facility. His legacy remains a significant part of the unit’s history, an embodiment of resilience, and a reminder of substantial contributions made to the IRBn.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP, A&N Islands, highlighted that the “Feddy’s Fit Zone” symbolizes not only a fitness centre but also signifies progress and a collective dedication to a healthier future for the A&N Islands’ Police community. The Director General urged all officers and personnel of IRBn, A&N Police to approach their duties with renewed commitment, ensuring the safety and well-being of society.
The meticulous planning and execution of the entire event were orchestrated by IRBn Officers under the guidance of Mr. Naveen Kumar, Deputy Commandant (IRBn), closely supervised by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Commandant (IRBn). Their efforts ensured the successful inauguration of “Feddy’s Fit Zone,” a testament to the unit’s dedication to the physical and mental wellness of its members.
