The Andaman and Nicobar Police commemorated its 72nd Raising Day with grandeur, reflecting on its illustrious history since the appointment of Mr. Naushirwan Feroz Sauntook as the First Superintendent of Police for the A&N Islands on January 16, 1953.
The celebratory event, held at the Police Lines Parade Ground, featured a spectacular parade on January 16, 2024, showcasing the disciplined and professional personnel of the A&N Police. The grand display included precision drills, impeccable turnout, and a strong sense of unity among the force.
Distinguished guests added to the splendour of the occasion, with the Director-General of Police, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, serving as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by several high-ranking officers, both from Civil Administration/Forest and A&N Command, underlining the collaborative efforts within the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Among the honoured dignitaries were Deputy Inspector General, Mr. Sanjay Tyagi, IPS; Deputy Inspector General, Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS; Deputy Inspector General, Ms. Varsha Sharma, IPS from the Police Department; Chief of Staff R ADM Sandeep Sandhu from Andaman Nicobar Command; and Mr. Neeraj Tiwari, IG, Indian Coast Guard, among others.
Their presence not only added to the prestige of the parade but also emphasised the synergy and collaboration between the Police and other departmental functionaries in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The celebration marked the significance of January 16 as the “Police Raising Day” for the Andaman & Nicobar Police, commemorating the day when the foundation of the force was laid with the appointment of its first Superintendent of Police. The event showcased the dedication, discipline, and unity that continue to define the Andaman & Nicobar Police force as it strides into its 72nd year of service to the islands’ security and well-being.
