In a recent development, the District Magistrate of South Andaman District has invoked the powers vested under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988), in conjunction with the Administration’s Notification dated March 10, 2008. The District Magistrate has officially notified the public regarding the commencement of pipeline laying work, scheduled to begin from January 16.
The critical infrastructure project entails the installation of pipelines from the Lamba Line Treatment Plant to Dairy Farm Junction. In an effort to minimise inconvenience to the public, the execution of this project is strategically planned during night hours, specifically from 8 pm to 6 am.
To ensure the safety of road users and streamline the construction process, the District Magistrate has announced the temporary closure of traffic in the respective lane during the aforementioned night hours. This traffic closure measure will be in effect from January 16 to January 31, 2024.
The decision to carry out the pipeline work during nighttime hours is aimed at mitigating potential disruptions to daily activities while facilitating the timely completion of the project.
