In a distinguished honour, Mr. Prahlad Singh, the Pradhan of Laxmi Nagar Gram Panchayat in Great Nicobar Island, has been deputed by the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to attend the prestigious ‘At Home Function’ hosted by the Hon’ble President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Republic Day, the 26th of January 2024.
Laxmi Nagar Gram Panchayat, situated in the southernmost part of the country, holds strategic importance as it encompasses key developmental projects, including the ambitious Transshipment Port and Greenfield airport within its jurisdiction or in close proximity. The selection of Mr. Prahlad Singh to attend the Republic Day event highlights the pivotal role played by the Panchayat in the growth and progress of the Great Nicobar Island.
The Gram Panchayat had earlier received accolades for its exceptional achievements, bagging the 2nd Prize among all Panchayats in the country for its Self Sufficient Infrastructure. This recognition is a testament to the commitment and concerted efforts of the local PRIs, including the Ex-Pradhan, Zilla Parishad Members, Ward Members, and the entire community.
Mr. Prahlad Singh, who has been associated with the affairs of Laxmi Nagar Gram Panchayat for 15 years, served as the Up-Pradhan for two terms before being elected as the Pradhan in 2022. His leadership and dedication have played a significant role in the success and recognition garnered by the Panchayat.
The upcoming ‘At Home Function’ provides an opportunity for Mr. Prahlad Singh to interact with dignitaries and policymakers at the national level, showcasing the achievements and potential of Laxmi Nagar Gram Panchayat on a broader platform. The 2nd Rank for Self Sufficient Infrastructure Award reflects not only the dedication of the Pradhan but also the collaborative spirit of the local community in promoting sustainable development in the region.
