In response to mounting concerns from residents in the Shoal Bay 8 area, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament representing Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has called for urgent measures to address the absence of battery backup in BSNL mobile towers.
Residents of Shoal Bay 8 have highlighted the challenges they face due to the lack of battery backup in BSNL mobile towers, particularly during power outages. The consequence is a complete breakdown of mobile networks, posing a severe risk during emergencies such as fires or medical issues, where immediate communication is paramount.
Recognizing the indispensable role of mobile communication in everyday life, especially in crisis situations, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has swiftly appealed to the Chief General Manager of BSNL, A & N Circle, to take immediate action. Sharma has underscored the urgency of rectifying the issue and installing necessary battery backup in all BSNL mobile towers in Shoal Bay, with special emphasis on Shoal Bay 8, given its remote and isolated location.
The Member of Parliament has stressed that the provision of battery backup will alleviate the concerns of Shoal Bay 8 residents, ensuring uninterrupted mobile services even in the event of power cuts. The move is seen as crucial to safeguarding the communication needs of the community, especially during critical situations.
