In a decisive move against illegal liquor production, the Kalighat Police executed a well-coordinated operation on February 5, 2024, successfully dismantling an illicit liquor manufacturing operation in the dense forest of Talbagan under their jurisdiction.

Acting on a credible tip, Sub-Inspector Silpi Singha, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Kalighat, swiftly formed a specialized team. The team, comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukesh Charan, In-Charge of Operation Kishorinagar, and Police Constables Irenious, Ramu, and Shoaib Ali, conducted a targeted raid that resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of illicit liquor known as Lehan.

The proactive team seized 150 litres of Lehan, along with an iron drum, various utensils, and timber materials used in the illegal production process. These materials were cleverly concealed within the depths of the Talbagan jungle. Following the confiscation, all items were promptly destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the clandestine network involved in the unlawful manufacturing of liquor.

The operation unfolded under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and received overall direction and supervision from Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

The authorities have urged the general public to remain vigilant and share any credible information related to criminal or illegal activities with their nearest police station or through phone numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344.
