PS Kalighat Apprehends Two Individuals, Dismantles Illicit Liquor Operation in Haren Nallah Forest

In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, the Kalighat Police Station successfully apprehended two individuals and dismantled an illegal liquor operation in the dense forests of Haren Nallah. Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by Sub-Inspector Silpi Singha embarked on a challenging journey spanning sea, land, and rough terrain to reach the remote forest area.

On February 6th, 2024, the team raided the Haren Nallah forest and made a substantial seizure of 520 litres of illicit liquor, known as Lahan, concealed in iron and plastic drums. Additionally, various utensils and equipment used for the production of illicit liquor were discovered hidden within the depths of the jungle. Prompt action was taken to destroy all confiscated items, dealing a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

During their return journey to the police station, the team intercepted two individuals, identified as Ashok Halder and Rajib Das, carrying 10 litres of illicit liquor. Both individuals were promptly detained and subjected to thorough interrogation. Subsequently, the seized liquor was confiscated, and both individuals were booked under an Excise case.

The operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Dr. Chandra Prakash Meena, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
