President of India Tours Swaraj Dweep, Observes Operational Demonstration by Andaman and Nicobar Command

The Honourable President of India, Smti. Droupadi Murmu, is on a significant five-day trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from February 19, 2024. As part of her itinerary, on February 21, 2024, the Honourable President visited Swaraj Dweep Island.

The distinguished arrival of the Honourable President at Swaraj Dweep was greeted by the Honourable Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Admiral D K Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, alongside other eminent officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

During her visit, the Honourable President witnessed an operational demonstration conducted by the Andaman and Nicobar Command at Radha Nagar Beach in Swaraj Dweep. Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, along with other high-ranking officers from the Andaman and Nicobar Command and Administration, presided over the demonstration held in honour of the Honourable President.

The demonstration showcased the operational prowess and preparedness of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, highlighting their capability in safeguarding the strategic interests of the nation within the region.

The Honourable President’s visit underscores the paramount importance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India’s maritime security strategy, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to ensuring stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.
