District Administration Distributes Emergency Response Kits to Trained Volunteers in North & Middle Andaman

In a proactive measure to enhance disaster preparedness in the region, the District Administration of N&M Andaman, in collaboration with the Directorate of Disaster Management, A & N Administration, had organised a comprehensive Disaster Management training program. This initiative aimed to equip 100 community volunteers with essential skills under the Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme in North & Middle Andaman.

Following the successful training, the Directorate of Disaster Management promptly provided the Emergency Response Kit to the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman, for distribution among the trained volunteers.

A significant milestone was reached yesterday as the District Administration conducted a special program for the distribution of Emergency Response Kits to the trained volunteers. The event saw the esteemed presence of Mr. Ankit Yadav, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, alongside Mr. Ashish Joon, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), and Mr. C. S. Pillai, Tehsildar, Mayabunder.

During his address, Deputy Commissioner Ankit Yadav emphasised the crucial role to played by Aapda Mitra Volunteers as the first line of response in any disaster situation. He underscored the importance of their role in executing basic relief and rescue tasks during emergencies, thereby ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

The distribution of Emergency Response Kits signifies a significant step towards bolstering the disaster resilience of North & Middle Andaman. With trained volunteers equipped with essential resources, the region is better poised to effectively respond to any untoward incidents and mitigate the impact of disasters on the local populace.
