Police Commemoration Week being Observed by South Andaman District Police

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on 21st October throughout the entire nation to remember the brave policemen who have sacrificed their lives while discharging their duty. To spread awareness about it, South Andaman District Police is organizing various activities/events from 21st October to 31st October 2021.

To observe the Police Commemoration Day, South Andaman District Police organized various activities i.e online essay competition titled “Role of Police in Nation Building”, in which wards of Police personnel and school students actively participated and penned down their thoughts & observations. Besides this, tree plantation drives were also carried out at the campus of TTI College, Garacharma and all the Police Stations of South Andaman District. 

Swachhata Abhiyan was also carried out in all Police Stations premises, high footfall areas and tourist sites like Kodiyaghat beach, Chidyatapu beach, Collinpur beach, Radhanagar beach, Bharatpur beach, Lakshmanpur Natural Bridge area, Chattan beach and near Manglutan junction. 

Further, basic self-defence techniques were demonstrated by the Police personnel to the students at G.S.S. School Swaraj Dweep. Accordingly, lectures were also delivered in schools for awareness on crime against children. The role of the public and students in maintaining Law & Order in society and the bravery of martyrs was also highlighted. 

To honour the sacrifice of the Martyrs, personnel of A&N Police also paid visits to their villages throughout the week.

These programs were organized and accomplished smoothly under the supervision of concerned SHOs/SDPOs as part of the observance of Police Commemoration week.
