Police Personnels of PS Campbell Bay are seriously ensuring preparedness to prevent spread of COVID-19 in the Island under the leadership of Insp. Aditya Narayan, SHO, PS Campbell Bay. The police personnels were seen today instructing the shopkeepers to draw markers for ensuring social distancing.

Further extensive awareness was also created among the general population to follow all COVID-19 protocols.

The police personnels at Great Nicobar are working day and night to make people aware on the importance of following the COVID-19 protocols and are also imposing fine on the violators.

Check points with barricades have been put up at some places with deployment of staffs to ensure that no one travels unmasked and other protocols are followed at all times by the public.

Great Nicobar is currently free from COVID-19 and it is very important to ensure that it stays that way, because of the remoteness of the Island and the lack of medical facilities.

The rising number of COVID-19 cases in South Andaman District and the rest of the country has created immense fear among the local population, which generally complies with all protocols and rules as imposed from time to time.

One ship from Port Blair with stranded passengers of Great Nicobar is due to arrive this week and it is anticipated, that it may become the reason for spread of COVID-19 in Great Nicobar. Although all passengers of the ship have been thoroughly tested by RT-PCR but still there is a chance of infection reaching the remote Islands.

The police is taking no chances and are ensuring that everything is in order and proper protocols are followed to prevent any local transmission of the virus.
