Andaman and Nicobar Islands is reporting a surge in COVID-19 cases in the past few days. 131 cases of COVID-19 were added to the active case tally just on Friday. The total active COVID-19 case tally stands at 516.
80 patients have also been declared cured/discharged on Friday. A total of 1436 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the Islands during the third wave out of which 934 patients have been discharged (Includes 14 patients from the second wave).
No deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the third wave.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands had earlier achieved 100% vaccination coverage of its eligible adult population. Vaccination in the Islands is continuing. The Islands has also achieved 82.53% of first dose vaccination of children aged between 15-18 years. The target beneficiaries for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged between 15-18 years have been estimated at 23000.
Altogether 92 isolation beds are occupied in the Islands currently. 91 beds are occupied in South Andaman District and 01 bed is occupied in North & Middle Andaman District. 424 positive cases are in home isolation.
