The restrictions imposed in all districts of A & N Islands have successfully reduced the movement of general public to a great extent and for sure will help reduce, eventually stop the spread of COVID-19 in the Islands.
Nicobar Times has been continuously raising the issue of crowded markets in Port Blair.
Large crowd was seen at Ratnam Market today, shopping for perishables. Everyone in the crowd had a mask on and was trying to maintain social distancing, but since the crowd was large it was impossible for anyone to maintain adequate distance.
It is very important to have sufficient stock of supplies for sustenance, but during this time it is also important for everyone to ensure their safety first.
Citizens need to understand that it is not the time to flock to markets in search of the best quality produce. Nearly every locality in Port Blair has local fruit and vegetable vendors. The range of produce available with your local vendor may be very limited, but it will help you sustain and will prevent you and your family from falling sick.
It is very important for everyone to avoid crowded markets and buy from the nearest vendors.
