On second day of the new restrictions coming into force, Nicobar Times found citizens still crowding to avail essential services in Port Blair. While everyone was desperately trying to maintain social distancing and were following all COVID norms but crowding is still dangerous.
Essential services such as banks, grocery stores, pharmacy and other shops allowed to operate by the Administration, should at this time encourage everyone to use alternative channels for availing their services.
Internet works just fine in different areas of Port Blair and the citizens should be encouraged to order their essentials online instead of visiting the store. Further banks should promote cashless transactions at this time and should come out with detailed guidelines for registration on UPI apps and for Internet Banking.
Reducing crowd at all places should be the top priority for the essential service providers, as the whole point of enforcing the restrictions is to break the chain of transmission in the Islands.
Further the general public also needs to help everyone around them by educating them on using various online services.
The chain of transmission in Andaman and Nicobar Islands can only be stopped with the help of the citizens. To avoid prolonged restrictions and to ensure that the society stays healthy, each one of us needs to do their part.
