COVID-19 Vaccination Drive Draws Immense Support; Administration Beefs Up COVID Care Facilities

The COVID vaccination drive launched by the A&N Administration has garnered immense support from the people of the Islands. The effort of the Administration in reaching out to the targeted beneficiaries even at grassroots level is witnessing overwhelming response. The vaccination process is continuing on a faster pace in various designated Vaccination Centres set up in different parts of the Islands. The total vaccination doses administered to the beneficiaries has reached a significant mark of 79953. On April 17, the medical team functioning in different designated Vaccination Centres have administered 6003 doses to the eligible persons. 

To cater to the medical requirements of COVID positive patients, the A&N Administration has made elaborate arrangements. In this regard, COVID Care Centres have been facilitated with sufficient number of beds. Accordingly, 20 ICU beds and 60 numbers of oxygen/plain beds are available in G. B Pant Hospital while at Dhanvantari 153 beds are available. Similarly, 285 beds have been placed at COVID Care Centres/ Govt. Guest Houses. Apart from this, 577 beds have been arranged for accommodating patients at guest houses/Govt. facilities on as and when required basis. 310 beds are also being arranged to meet any exigency. 

In addition to this, 46 Hotels have been identified in A&N Islands in which 984 rooms are available to accommodate needy patients. In all, 1405 beds in Govt. Facilities and 984 rooms in private hotels are available as on date, a press release from Directorate of Health Services said.
