Navodhaya Foundation in Association with District Administration South Andaman organised a COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School, Port Blair on 19th of April 2021.
People from all walks of life were vaccinated in the Vaccination Drive conducted by Navodhaya Foundation. Around 130 Citizens aged 45 years and above were vaccinated during the drive.
The Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Suneel Anchipaka took the initiative of involving the NGOs in reaching out to the general public and creating awareness about COVID-19 Vaccination. Navodhaya Foundation was tasked with organising the Vaccination Drive in a very short time and with the help of the Dr. S.K Jagpal, Principal, Khalsa Public School they organised the venue and under the leadership of Protima Bannerjee, Director, Navodhaya Foundation the drive was setup in a well organised manner.
The staffs of the Khalsa Public School also actively participated in the Vaccination Drive.
Navodhaya Foundation with IMFC and Desi Lounge also arranged light refreshments for the Citizens getting vaccinated and lunch was arranged for the volunteers and paramedics.
Renowned Social Worker from the Islands Mr. Abdul Rasheed popularly known as Ration Rasheed arranged for free transportation for the Citizens getting Vaccinated to and fro from their homes.
Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman District visited the Vaccination Centre and expressed his gratitude towards Navodhaya Foundation and Khalsa Public School for the initiative. Hari Kalikat, SDM, South Andaman also inspected the Vaccination Centre and congratulated team Navodhaya for their effort and dedication towards the society.
The Citizens who received their Vaccination at the Centre appreciated the arrangements made for them and also requested Navodhaya Foundation to organise the drive for them to get their second dose of Vaccination at the same venue.
Entire premises of Khalsa Public School was sanitised by J.K Pest Management after the end of the Vaccination Drive as a precautionary measure.
Navodhaya Foundation has been working in the Islands to create awareness on COVID-19 Vaccination and its importance.
