Nicobar District has been COVID-19 free in the second wave of the pandemic. District Administration, Nicobar District has taken all precautions and steps to ensure that the district remains COVID free.
The passengers arriving at different Islands of the district are properly home quarantined and monitored.
Residents of the district especially the residents of Great Nicobar are now demanding easing the restrictions imposed to curb COVID-19 in the district. The residents are facing a lot of problems due to the restrictions imposed.
Nicobar Times spoke to several local residents of Great Nicobar as well as political leaders of both Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party and all of them were of the view that the restrictions should be eased.
Nicobar Times also spoke to Mr Aslam Majid, First Captain, Kamorta who informed us that many residents of Kamorta have approached him with the demand of easing the restrictions.
