An 08-Year-Old Child passed away this morning after being hit by a Truck at Brijgunj near Govt. Middle School.
The deceased child was a 3rd Grade Student of Govt. Middle School, Brijgunj, and had reportedly just reached the school with her father on his bike. As soon as she got off the bike, she was hit by the truck and succumbed to her injuries.
According to the locals, speeding trucks are not uncommon on the road where the school is located. Locals informed the media that most drivers of the trucks passing through the area drive under the influence of liquor.
Nicobar Times has accessed a letter from Shri Ganesh Youth Committee to the SHO, PS Pahargaon, requesting him to depute staff during morning and evening hours near the school as heavy vehicles ply in the area.
Locals have informed that no police staff was deputed near the school during the incident.
