1.1 Kilometres of Copper Cable Stolen from 2X10 MW Solar Power Plant in Dollygunj

An official complaint has been filed by an official of Larsen and Toubro Ltd. with the Station House Officer of PS Pahargaon, reporting the theft of approximately 1.1 kilometres of 6 square millimetre Copper Cable from the 2x10MW NLC India Ltd (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited) Solar plant situated in Dollygunj.

The incident, as per the complaint, occurred on the night of April 25, 2024. It was noted that the stolen copper cable was cut and removed from the Junction Box and MMS Structure. The estimated value of the stolen cable is around Rs. 60,000 as per the complaint.

Authorities are yet to confirm if any progress has been made in identifying the perpetrators of the theft.

The South Andaman District of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been grappling with frequent power cuts for a significant period. Such incidents of theft of essential cables from the Solar Power Plant could further worsen the situation.

The complaint regarding the theft was officially registered at PS Pahargaon on March 27, 2024.
