At least 11 passengers sustained injuries when a private bus, Anand Bus, overturned near Austin-2 village, Mayabunder, on the night of September 27, 2025. The ill-fated bus was ferrying passengers from Sri Vijaya Puram to Diglipur.
Following the accident, police teams rushed to the spot and immediately evacuated the injured passengers to Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder. Authorities also arranged an STS bus to ensure the onward journey of those bound for Kalighat and Diglipur.
Of the 11 injured, five passengers with serious injuries were airlifted to Sri Vijaya Puram on September 28 for advanced treatment. The remaining injured are receiving medical care at Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the mishap occurred due to rash and negligent driving by the bus driver, causing the vehicle to overturn while negotiating a curve near Austin-2. An FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, has been registered at Mayabunder Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
