Port Blair, 28 October 2022

More than 110 students who were perusing B.Tech in different streams at Dr. B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair, have formally discontinued their course and are in process of obtaining admission in other colleges of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and mainland.

Reliable sources have informed Nicobar Times that many more students have made up their minds to discontinue the Degree Course they were pursuing at DBRAIT and take admissions in other colleges to safeguard their future.

The numbers clearly show that the students and their parents are not satisfied with the steps taken by Andaman and Nicobar Administration to safeguard their future.

DBRAIT is the only college which offered Engineering Degree Courses in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Many students who cannot afford Engineering Education at colleges in mainland, will now have to give up their dream of becoming an Engineer.

The students blame Dr. Utpal Sharma, Principal of DBRAIT for the mismanagement and the ongoing legal cases with Pondicherry University. The students during their long-drawn protest continuously demanded the termination of Dr. Utpal Sharma from the post of the Principal of DBRAIT.

The cancellation of a meeting scheduled on 30th October 2022, in which the Principal and other Faculty Members were due to answer the questions of the students and their parents, has further demoralised many.

The following are the Course and Year Wise Details of Students who have obtained their Transfer Certificate from DBRAIT and are currently considering joining other colleges:
