117.19 Kilograms Venison Seized by South Andaman District Police Team

In a significant operation executed by the South Andaman District Police, a team from the Humfrygunj Police Station achieved a record-breaking seizure, confiscating a staggering 177.19 kilograms of venison (deer meat). The successful mission, conducted on October 5, 2023, was led by Sub-Inspector G Mohan Rao, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Humfrygunj, along with constables M Sudarsana Rao, Netesh Baidya, and Mani Kandan. The operation was supervised by Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat.

Acting on credible intelligence, a rapid-response team was assembled to conduct surveillance in the Wandoor area. During their operation, they identified a suspicious Omni vehicle with the registration number ANO1 D 9932 passing through Memyo, Ranchi Basti. The team successfully tracked and intercepted the vehicle, leading to the discovery of 177.19 kilograms of venison upon inspection. The individuals inside the Omni were apprehended, and the vehicle, which contained four plastic bags filled with illicit meat, was seized. The suspect was identified as P Sasi Kumar, a 46-year-old resident of Garacharma near Murda Khadi and a private worker. The confiscated venison, along with the Omni vehicle, was promptly impounded on the spot, and Kumar was detained. Simultaneously, the relevant information was relayed to the appropriate Forest officials. All seized articles and the detained individual were handed over to the concerned Forest officials for further necessary action within their jurisdiction.
