The 12th Annual Athletic Meet of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Vijay Nagar, Campbell Bay, unfolded in a grand fashion on Friday (17 January 2025), showcasing a vibrant blend of sportsmanship, cultural performances, and community engagement.
The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. E.S. Rajesh, Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti Campbell Bay, alongside special guest Mr. Satnam Singh, HM (P) (Retd.), whose presence elevated the occasion. Parents, teachers, students, and local officials gathered in large numbers at the school playground to witness the celebrations.
The meet commenced with a synchronised and spirited march past by the students, marking the ceremonial opening. In her welcome address, Ms. Sulekha, Vice Principal of GSSS Vijay Nagar, greeted the audience with warmth and enthusiasm.
Adding vibrancy to the event, students delivered captivating cultural performances, including lezim dance, scarf drill, aerobics, and yoga demonstrations. A series of track and field events, organized for different age groups, kept the competitive spirit alive throughout the day. Winners were felicitated with medals and prizes by the dignitaries, celebrating their achievements.
The afternoon session of the meet was equally eventful, with the closing ceremony attended by the chief guest, Mr. Shekhar Rai, Block Development Officer (BDO), Campbell Bay. Highlights included a fancy dress competition, special activities for Children with Special Needs (CwSN), and open-to-all sports competitions for male and female participants.
The event concluded with the presentation of individual championship trophies to students who exhibited outstanding performances in various sports. The day’s festivities left a lasting impression of camaraderie and enthusiasm, fostering a spirit of teamwork and resilience among the participants.
