13-Year-Old Missing Girl Traced and Rescued from West Bengal in Joint Police Operation

In a remarkable display of swift action and inter-state coordination, a 13-year-old girl reported missing from the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ograbraj was successfully rescued from West Bengal within hours of the report being filed.

The incident was reported on April 20, 2025, when the minor girl was found missing from her residence. Following the registration of a kidnapping case at PS Ograbraj, a thorough investigation was launched. Technical surveillance quickly led the police to trace her location to Gopalnagar in West Bengal.

Acting on this lead, PS Ograbraj established immediate contact with the Officer-in-Charge of PS Gopalnagar, requesting urgent assistance. On April 21, the local police in Gopalnagar rescued the minor and produced her before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). She was subsequently shifted to a shelter home for protection.

A police team from PS Ograbraj, comprising Sub-Inspector Agnes Bartholoma and Head Constable Benjamin Toppo, was dispatched to West Bengal on April 22 to bring the girl back home. The repatriation was successfully completed on April 24, when the girl was returned to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and produced before the CWC at Sri Vijaya Puram.

The rescue operation was executed under the leadership of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO of PS Ograbraj, under the command of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, and overall supervision of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious or illegal activity by contacting the Police Control Room at 112 or 03192-232100. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
