Celebrating the 148th Birth Anniversary of the revered tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, leaders of the Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) paid homage to his legacy. ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker led the tribute, joined by party cadres in honouring the iconic figure.
In a gesture of reverence, Congress leaders visited the Ranchi Association office, adorning the statue of Lord Birsa Munda with garlands. The occasion served as a poignant moment to reflect on Birsa Munda’s pivotal role in spearheading the tribal movement against the exploitative structures of the British Colonial Government. Their homage extended to acknowledging Munda’s efforts in fostering a deeper cultural understanding among tribal communities and promoting unity.
As part of the commemoration, the Congress Party set up a stall in front of the Gandhi Bhawan in Port Blair. Here, refreshments were offered to individuals participating in the rally organised by the Ranchi Association, marking the significance of the day and honouring the indelible contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The day’s events stood as a testament to the enduring impact of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s ideals and actions in championing the cause of tribal rights and cultural heritage, resonating strongly within the hearts of those paying homage to his memory.
