The Directorate of Industries, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, inaugurated a 15-day short-term skill development training programme on Handicrafts (Coconut Shell, Wooden, and Cane & Bamboo Products) at Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), with Mr. P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan of Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat, attending as the chief guest. A total of 35 trainees have enrolled for the programme, which aims to equip them with essential skills to create traditional handicraft items.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote self-employment opportunities and stimulate the local economy by empowering artisans with market-relevant skills. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Basheer underscored the significance of the Directorate’s ongoing support and its role in fostering sustainable growth for aspiring artisans.
