The concluding function of a 15-day short-term skill development training programme on ‘Handicrafts – Coconut Shell’, organized by the Extension Centre, Diglipur under the Industries Department, was held recently at Keralapuram, Diglipur.
Addressing the valedictory session, Ms. Bibi Afreen Nisha, Industries Promotion Officer, highlighted various departmental schemes and initiatives aimed at supporting skill development programmes, promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and generating local employment opportunities. She emphasized the importance of skill-based training in empowering individuals and strengthening the region’s economic base.
A total of 15 trainees participated in the programme, where they were imparted basic skills and technical know-how in coconut shell handicraft making. The initiative aimed to encourage self-employment and foster entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
The participants were encouraged to utilize their newly acquired skills to start self-employment ventures, thereby enhancing their livelihoods and contributing to sustainable community development in the area.
