In a commendable display of swift action and dedication, the South Andaman District Police successfully tracked and rescued a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from a computer center at Middle Point, Port Blair on June 24, 2024. The girl was safely returned from West Bengal, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Police Station Aberdeen team.
The ordeal began when the girl’s parents reported her missing on July 5, 2024. They informed the police that their daughter had left for her computer class on June 24 but never returned home. Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 118/2024) was registered under Section 363 of the IPC, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Nixon Isaac was assigned to lead the investigation. Following intensive investigation with utmost sensitivity and professionalism the missing/kidnapped girl was traced to Kolkata.
Following the tracing of the girl, SI Nixon Isaac, SI Arthi Roy, and Head Constable Shiv Nath were deployed to Kolkata to ensure safe return of the missing/kidnapped girl and to apprehend the accused. The team employed their expertise and resources to further trace the girl’s location to Sarsuna village in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Working in close coordination with local authorities, they swiftly located the girl and apprehended the accused, Omar SK, son of Del Bahar from Sarsuna.
The accused was brought to Port Blair on July 27, 2024, and presented before the Honourable Court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
The successful operation was overseen by Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO of Police Station Aberdeen, under the command of Mr. Vikas Swami, SDPO South Andaman, and the overall supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
